Improved task manager:-

New changes in task manager include a new breadcrumb allowing the user to run new tasks.new task manager have large icons and text.items are sorted between categories such as System-Critical Programs, Background Programs, and actual Applications. The background programs category may be useful in the future for detecting unknown apps running in the background.

But this new modern task manager has some problems such as:-

task manager is buggy with applications stucked in the task manager even when they are being shut down.

Improved Disk Cleanup:- 

Windows 8’s Disk Cleanup appears to be capable of detecting user files by type - music, movies, pictures – and by file size.
Its performance is lot better then windows 7.

Windows 8 Hybrid Boot to reduce startup times :-

By typing “power button” in the Start Menu. Upon clicking “Change what the power buttons do,” a power options window from the control panel is launched.
