Enhance Home router capabilities

The day is not so far away when we found ourself saying "Remember those days when we used to surf Internet using wired connections" 
WiFi technology is becoming more and more popular every passing day.According to Cisco's visual networking index "There will be more wifi users then wired users till year 2015". that's true WiFi is so convenient for us.As a result most people prefer to use Internet wirelessly using WiFi routers.

WiFi routers of Manufacturing companies like for eg. cisco Linksis,Tp-link,d-link,Netgear are popular and they all produces routers at very chipper cost with descent features like eg-NAT, ACL, Bandwidth control, Port security etc.

But Really those router Manufacturers gives us all the features that router is capable of?
and the obvious answer is "NO".If they do then who will purchase there high end (costly) routers.

Imagine if your chipper home based router can handle Advance  features like BGP, EoIP turnal, CPU over clocking,dual SSID, VPN, keepalive,Super channel and many more....which are only available in high end routers.

Now its Possible thanks to a group of hackers Sebastian Gottschal is one of them.These hackers made costume enhanced firmwares for most of Linux based routers.

These firmwares are only available for Linux based routers. please Check supported routers list Link

Advance  features May wary router by router

You may void Your routers warranty by upgrading it with custom firmware please contact your router Manufacturer

Use wired (cat5) connection to upgraded firmware.avoid using wifi as it may damage your router

Implementation


(I have used tp-link router TL-WR740N)

Step 1

Download official firmware backup file FOR YOUR ROUTER 

tp-link TL-WR740N BackupLink
Other tplink users Backuplink
Linksys BackupLink
Netgear BackupLink

Rest of users please refer your router Manufacture company's website 

Step 2

Download custom firmware
tp-link  TL-WR740N Users DownloadLink
Others Please visit Link

Extract downloaded files using winrar,winzip or any other software

Step 3

Access router setting using web-interface (Type router's ip address in browsers url)
for TL-WR740N users it's 192.168.0.1
For most of others type 192.168.1.1






Still cant access router look for router ip see bottom of router or refer manual 



Enter router's username and password default passwords can be found on same router label

for TL-WR740N users its Username:- admin Password:- admin

Now goto System-tools > firmware upgrade click choose file


now browse extracted file and click upgrade

firmware will upgraded,your router reboots Wait for some time

Now to access your router enter 192.168.1.1 in url (for every user)

Congrats you have just enhance your routers capabilities

    Yes, it is ADSL+ one. It has 16Mb firmware chip and 64MB RAM if I a correct.

    Netgear Extender Login page can be accessed either using the default IP address or the web address in your browser. Make sure you collect the default access credentials like the username and the password and type in the same to access the Netgear Extender setup page. Some of my freinds were curious to know that how to play music through cmd so here are the two solutions that i have - SOLUTION 1: If u wan't to play the song with whichever player u have in default , just do the following- Goto to place where you have your song . Windows Cairo :-  Cairo was Bill gates vision of "information at your fingertips". Microsoft operating designers works on this operating system for almost 6 years 1991-1996. Cairo was announced at the 1991 Microsoft Professional Developers Conference by Jim Allchin. Microsoft also gave a demo O.S. to some pepole.
